TwitterI was going to call this post The Best Use of Twitter, but as I was reminded by a coworker today, the best use of Twitter, without any doubt, is as a real-time communication tool (as we’ve seen with the Iranian election issue). By the way, are you wondering how to see the Tweets about the Iranian situation? Here’s how:

  • Visit: http://search.twitter.com
  • Search for: #IranElection

Twitter Search

Ok, so the second best use of Twitter is, admittedly, much more frivolous… Nearly every workday I eat at the Co-op’s Celery Stick Cafe. Everyday the menu changes. I’m always wondering if they’ll have something I like or if I’ll just end up with a salad. (It happens.) What if there was some way I could get their menu without having to remember to look at it daily…? Lucky me — there is!

Twitter Cafe

The cafe posts their menu to Twitter. I can simply add their Twitter RSS feed to my iGoogle page (or any newsreader) and see the menu. Nice!

What type of promotion can your library Tweet about? New books? Story times?
